The
legendary ball busters from New Jersey are back, as
Meet The Creeps Vol.2 picks up where the previous
chapter left off.
Jim Florentine & Don
Jamieson are a dynamic duo in the world of pranks. The
metal loving wise acres have been together for years,
from the Terrorizing Telemarketers CD collection, to
HBO's Inside The NFL, and now another classic
installment in the MTC series.
Joining Florentine &
Jamieson are other NJ based comedians Rev. Bob Levy,
Chuck Miganelli, Gary Gentile, and the infamous team
of Jim Norton & Club Soda Kenny...more on them
later.
The formula is simple: bust
unsuspecting people's balls, while they are
unknowingly videotaped by hidden cameras. The footage
is obtained by a pen sized hidden camera worn by
someone who manages to somehow blend into the often
chaotic environment. Believe it or not, the quality of
the video is fantastic, and the small camera manages
to capture everything.
The pranks seem simple on paper,
but the payoff is in the brilliant and often ballsy
execution. After a short intro and video highlights
from MTC vol. 1, the DVD begins with Jim & Don
attending an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet, with
their 400+ lb. friend Tommy J. The gang is carrying
toy buckets and shovels, often used by children to
make sand castles on the beach. Before being seated
they verbally harass the Chinese restaurant workers by
calling them bitches, and asking about the food,
referring to it as shit & afterbirth. The workers
shrug it off in typical foreigner fashion, a theme
that develops throughout the DVD.
The action picks up when all 3
men return to the buffet and begin scooping huge
portions of food into their toy buckets. This raises
the ire of several patrons and management explains how
they "can't do that." Undaunted, Florentine
explains how the plates are too small, and how this
will save them time. Once again the foreigner buys it,
and the boys go on to push the envelope some more. On
their next visit, they literally pull chairs up to the
actual buffet and eat out of the trays. The patrons
begin to yell, the cops are called, and the gang
flees.
The next chapter takes place at
Ozzfest, as there's a huge presence from today's top
metal bands, who fall victim to many of the pranks.
Whether it's asking the lead singer of Killswitch
Engage to pose in a homoerotic fashion for a picture,
or having members from Lamb Of God sign autographs
with sexually explicit and gay acts - it's amazing how
both Jim & Don didn't get their asses beat up.
Then enter the comedic team of
Jim Norton & Club Soda Kenny. Both men arguably
steal the show once again, as they did in MTC vol. 1.
In the prior installment, the diminutive Norton often
played an artistic fella who was uncomfortably
manhandled about by the Goliath sized Club Soda Kenny.
This time the roles are reversed.
In the 2 chapters titled
"The Retard & The Asshole," Jim Norton
can be seen topless (showing off his awful upper
torso) berating the big dummy Kenny, while others look
on in disgust. Norton swears like a sailor at Kenny,
often calling him stupid while telling him to shut up.
Kenny manages to get under everyone's skin with his
incessant asking of inane questions, but his victims
show patience, knowing that something isn't right with
him. Kenny NEVER breaks character and continues on
without skipping a beat, while Norton hurls insults
towards him. They are often told by a manager to
"leave my customers alone," but both men
fail to relent.
The other gag the Norton &
Kenny team pulls on people is simply called
"Cursing." Both men barge into various
businesses and ask a multitude of questions to the
employees while starting each sentence with the word
fuck, cocksucker, or even cunt. Before long the
employees begin to curse, and Jim Florentine plays the
role of a customer who is offended by the shopkeepers
language. Perfect execution by the gang once again.
The rest of the DVD is loaded
with more incredibly cringe inducing moments from Jim,
Don, & the others as they take on the role of
valet parkers, port-a-john attendants, and even a gay
couple looking for someone to clean their shit covered
gerbil. They often manage to expose how dumb and
ignorant foreigners can be, which is both hilarious
and sad at the same time.
There are some breaks from the
hidden camera pranks that feature written sketches
from the cast. They poke fun at how awful network
sitcoms are, compare dating to a baseball game, and
pick apart cockblockers. The skits are well written,
but are often a lull throughout the DVD. The gang
should stick to what they do best, and unfortunately
it isn't acting with a written script.
The 2 hour masterpiece ends with
an Abortion clinic gag that's so fucking wrong, it's
worth the price of the DVD alone.
The audio & video quality is
fantastic, and the editing is also top notch. The
soundtrack also kicks ass and is chock full o' metal.
This is a MUST have for any
fans of the hardcore, Cringe Humor genre, whether
you've seen volume 1 or not.
